this is the answer i got...
"I am going to answer this for you in a simple 'Pros and Cons' list stating things that are exclusive to that system. I will be unbiased and will allow you to make the decision. This may be a long list, but I recommend you read it all carefully as this is a big decision to make.
PlayStation 3
Pros:
-Blu-ray support allows you to play games and watch movies in TRUE 1080p.
-A large number of high quality exclusive games come out on the PS3, giving you some of the best gaming experience. (Killzone 2, Metal Gear Solid 4, God of War 3 etc.)
-Killzone 2 in itself is worth getting a PS3. It has the highest graphical quality ever seen in a videogame. Look it up on youtube.
-Online gaming on the PSN is free-of-charge and gives ABSOLUTELY NO lag, despite what some fanboys say.
-Very high quality media system for storing and viewing photos, movies, music etc.
-Playstation Network (PSN) has an enormous library of fantastic quality exclusive games. (WarHawk, Gran Turismo 5, Rag Doll Kung Fu, etc.)
-The Playstation is an EXTREMELY powerful piece of hardware allowing for higher quality games to be made. To put this in perspective for you, the PS3 has 8 cores. A very high quality £2000 desktop computer has 4 cores.
-The Video Store allows you to buy and download recently released movies that have just come out in theatres, along with TV shows such as Heroes and The Simpsons.
-Vidzone is a new feature that lets you stream HD music videos of almost any song FOR FREE.
-'SIXAXIS' motion controller is the standard controller and is motion sensitive. This feature is used in lots of games to good effect.
-Pressure sensitive buttons in the controller know how hard you are pressing the buttons. This is revolutionary when compared to ON/OFF buttons in the Xbox controller.
-Playstation Home is a new social-networking application where you can walk around a virtual world with friends, launch online games, or just hang out.
-Blu-ray disks are 'region-free', so if a game comes out in Japan or the US a couple of weeks early (which is common on all consoles) you can simply import that game.
-Handy features (such as Wi-Fi) are built into the console and ready to use.
Cons:
-Online communication is difficult. You cannot talk to people through your headset on your 'Friends list' unless they are in a game playing with you.
-Playstation has a smaller library of exclusive games, however the games that are exclusive are very very high quality.
-The PS3 is more expensive, though when you consider the hardware in this system it's not surprising.
Xbox 360
Pros:
-Larger number of exclusive games. (Though this isn't really a pro as most of these exclusive games are low-quality) Gears of War however is a high quality game.
-Talking to friends on a headset is made easy thanks to the 'Party' system. You can talk to friends even if they are in a different games.
-I'm afraid these are all the advantages (that I could think of) that the Xbox has over the Playstation.
Cons:
-Many of the exclusive games are low quality and not worth getting. This isn't to say that there aren't lots of high quality games for the system.
-DVD holds the system back by only allowing 9GB of space for each game. As opposed to Blu-ray, which can hold 50GB of memory on a game disk.
-Xbox Live is NOT a free service. It may not be very expensive, but it does seem trivial to pay for a service which isn't any better than the PSN.
-The Xbox 360 is unfortunately a fairly unreliable piece of hardware. It has a 33% failure rate due to the so-called 'Red Ring Of Death'. Microsoft does replace 'RROD' consoles for free, but it can be hassle to get it done.
-Accessories, such as a Wi-Fi adapter are very expensive.
THE END
Well that's my list. I would like to let you know that I bought an Xbox 360 when it was released and then a PS3 when that was released. I play my Playstation a little bit more that my Xbox because I prefer the games there are on it.
Happy shopping! I hope you are happy with whatever you choose =]
Please tell us what you decide upon by the way! "
